Fifty-four passengers sailed on the small ship, M/V Variety Voyager, around the Western end of the island of Cuba. We began in Cienfuegos, continued to Trinidad, Cayo Largo, Isla de la Juventud (Island of Youth) and then on to Havana where we docked for three nights. We went onshore for the People-to-People program. During our eight days in Cuba, we were entertained by the sounds of the island. We visited music and dance schools and were serenaded at lunches and dinners in local restaurants by excellent singers and musicians. While most of Cuba still lives as it was in 1959, the music and arts have thrived.
