April 2010
Our three-week land and Greek Island cruise began in Athens in early April. The Spring weather was perfect as we explored the Acropolis and Plaka (Old Town) in Athens. We then flew to Crete for three days to see archeological sites of the Bronze Age Minoan culture, mountain villages and enjoy local wine and seafood. We returned to Athens and traveled by motor coach to Ancient Delphi and the monasteries of Meteora. We boarded our small ship, the 50-passenger M/V Arethusa, in the port of Piraeus near Athens and began our Greek Island cruise. During the following week we visited Syros, Mykonos, Delos, Naxos, Santorini, Amorgos, and Patmos before docking in Kusadasi, Turkey. We visited Ephesus which dates to the 11th Century BC and is one of the largest archeological sites in the world. After a flight to Istanbul, we visited Hagia Sofia, the “Blue Mosque” and Topkapi Palace. We are pleased to share this sample of the wonderful sites and sounds of our trip.
