Maritimes 2010

July 2010

In July we enjoyed a ten-day driving trip to Québec City, along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, around the Gaspé Peninsula, into New Brunswick, over to Prince Edward Island, and then down to Campobello Island and back to Pennsylvania.  In 1995 we had visited Québec City to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and decided to return for our 40th!  We stayed in a small hotel in the Old Town part of Québec City and in bed and breakfasts during the rest of the trip.  Beautiful scenery, and fresh fish and seafood abounded and we tried our best to get our fill.  We spent one full day (and night) in the Acadian Village, a living museum that showcased the Acadian culture in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.  While there we stayed in a 1907 hotel and were entertained by a trio of Acadian musicians after dinner.  Jim was the only non-French speaker in the room!
