Wild Norway and Svalbard
May – June 2019, Part 2 of 2
This was the second of two, two-week, back-to-back expedition cruises on the Ocean Adventurer with Zegrahm Expeditions. This was our seventh trip on the Adventurer, the first having been to Antarctica in 2004.
From Aberdeen, Scotland, we sailed across the North Sea between off-shore oil platforms to Bergen, Norway. Only six passengers and half the expedition staff were doing the two back-to-backs. In Bergen we embarked the rest of the expedition staff and 75 more passengers. Our 14-person expedition staff consisted of naturalists, geologists, archeologists, historians, cultural experts, marine biologists, and ornithologists.
Most of our trip was North of the Arctic Circle; 80° was our furthest North. Fjords, mountains, ice, glaciers, walrus, birds, whales, even one polar bear! Amazing sights in one of the most beautiful regions of the earth.
